My experience in the M.A Double Degree Program in Global Communication thus far has been spectacular. The interdisciplinary design of the program has ignited interests in areas that I had never considered before. In my undergraduate studies, I had been a commerce major specializing in organizational behaviour and human resources. So I came to the program with little Communications background.

But this was not a problem because my professors have done an amazing job in creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment. I had the freedom to explore intellectually, and to present ideas and get feedback in professional academic settings. The program has also offered me with a rare field placement to intern in a leading Canadian think-tank and to learn from senior industry professionals. This affords me the chance to apply theories to the real world.

On top of these inspirational experiences, the people in the program are exceptionally kind and brilliant. We quickly bonded, becoming close friends in a matter of days. I never thought it was possible for 10 strangers in the programs to become as close to me as family in such a short time span.  Academically, my classmates helped me advance my studies by cultivating a culture of critical engagement with each other’s idea. Outside of classes, we went skiing and snow tubing together in Whistler. We had everything from Karaoke nights, Dim-Sum party, potlucks to game nights. The friendship I made in this program I know will last for a lifetime and the experiences that we shared will never be forgotten.

This program offers experience that are simply not afforded elsewhere.
